Family Business IPO Forum

Globalization of national economies has thrown up new challenges to the businesses. The need for a change in the business processes, technology up-grading and up-scaling of operations seem to be stronger than ever before. Meeting these challenges and availing the opportunities offered by the dynamics of the global economy calls for additional investments. Thus, raising the equity capital from the public is a serious option.

With the upsurge in the equity markets in the Kingdom and success of public offerings of equity by some privately held businesses, it is time that the options for augmenting the financial resources of family businesses be explored seriously. However, going public has never been a simple process. There are several issues to be tackled before, during and after going public. Some issues to be explored are:

  • For a family business, what are the merits and demerits in inducting equity capital form the public?
  • What are the legal implications of going public?
  • How do we assess the status of readiness of a family business before an IPO?
  • During the post-IPO period, what are the challenges in governance system that a family business is likely to encounter?
  • What are the regulatory requirements for the IPO?
  • How much is the company worth?
  • How do we retain the investing public interest in the company's share after the IPO?

  • Introduction | Program | Press Coverage
