Riyadh hosts world’s largest real estate gathering

A few weeks ago I wrote an article about innovation in housing in the Kingdom. Housing is undoubtedly a crucial pillar of the country’s vision. On Sunday, Cityscape launched its largest convention ever, in partnership with the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing.

The event aims to become the most significant global real estate gathering the world has ever seen.

Cityscape is widely recognized as the premier international property investment and development event, bringing together visionaries from around the world to shape the future of urban landscapes.

With its influential platform and strong commitment to sustainable development, Cityscape serves as a catalyst for innovation and growth in the real estate sector.

The event provides industry professionals, investors, and thought leaders with a unique opportunity to participate in meaningful discussions, gain valuable insights, and establish strategic partnerships.

With a wide range of networking opportunities, informative panel discussions, and interactive exhibits, Cityscape showcases the latest trends and innovations in the real estate industry.

While driving to the conference venue, I noticed that it is located on the outskirts of Riyadh, which allows for accommodating the expected traffic of approximately 200,000 delegates.

These participants include global stakeholders from across the entire real estate ecosystem. The four-day conference will host numerous master developers, including the notable giga-project NEOM. Additionally, there will be B2B sessions involving developers, architects, proptech, consultants, and contractors.

I have received at least six invitations from friends who are active developers, showcasing their latest innovations and technologies.

One of the international companies taking part in Cityscape is Planet Smart City. I had the opportunity to meet their leadership at BMG’s Economic Forum held at the London Stock Exchange last July. Planet Smart City caught my attention due to their focus on developing affordable residential real estate projects in countries where demand significantly exceeds supply. Their units are typically aimed at low-income workforce communities.

During the opening show, I witnessed an update on King Salman Park. As someone who resided near Hyde Park in London for many years, I am eagerly anticipating the unveiling of this iconic landmark, which is considered the finest gift to the city of Riyadh.

I must admit that the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing is putting in commendable efforts to expedite the growth of the housing ecosystem in the country.

Having attended previous Cityscape shows, I can confidently say that this gathering is truly magnificent. Even the Cityscape Vice President Chris Speller declared it as the most significant event in Cityscape’s history and the world’s largest real estate gathering.

Basil M.K. Al-Ghalayini is the chairman and CEO of BMG Financial Group.
